Parent Friend Program

Family Outreach of Horry County’s Parent Friend  program is a “hands-on” program in which trained volunteers work with a young mother throughout her pregnancy and during the first year of the baby’s life.

This program seeks to reduce child abuse and neglect by teaching positive parenting skills, increasing the teen’s self worth and self-respect, and encouraging economic self-sufficiency in our clients through educational and social activities. The intensive, personal support given by our volunteers is essential to assure the health of mother and baby. An important aspect of our program is to encourage our clients to engage in behaviors which will diminish the possibility of a repeat pregnancy.

Parent Friend is having a tremendous positive impact.
